The Oil & Gas Industry and the Environment

Getting Started

This training package has been designed to help you build on your understanding of the oil and gas industry and the environment; the range of environmental issues facing the oil and gas industry as well as ways to address these concerns.

The package is aimed at oil and gas professionals, and government persons concerned with regulating or planning oil and gas development, but it may also be of interest to academic institutions.

The package is divided into three main sections, Setting the Scene, Modules and Hot Topics.  These are accessible at all times from the main navigation bar, at the top of your screen.

Setting the Scene
Setting the Scene is an activity designed to explore the ‘building blocks’ for understanding environmental issues/sustainable development. For example, terminology, concepts, environmental management tools and so on. We suggest that you start here, but if you are already familiar with the field of sustainable development feel free to start exploring the Modules and Hot Topics.

Modules
The modules have been designed to give an overview of sustainable development and environmental issues related to the industry. They have also been designed so that they stand alone so that you can visit only the modules that interest you.

Hot Topics
Presents brief overviews of topical issues along with links and resources for further information. If you would like to see a ‘Hot Topic’ included in the future please Email Us.
