NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME DIVISION OF TECHNOLOGY, INDUSTRY AND
ECONOMICS
UNEP DTIE works with decision-makers in government,
local authorities, and industry to develop and adopt policies and
practices that are cleaner and safer; make efficient use of natural
resources; ensure adequate management of chemicals; incorporate
environmental costs; and reduce pollution and risks for humans and
the environment.
MINISTRY
OF TRANSPORT, PUBLIC WORKS & WATER MANAGEMENT, NETHERLANDS
The North Sea Directorate is responsible
for the management of the Dutch part of the North Sea. Its
aim is the sustainable development of the water system of the North
sea, taking into account various sea based activities, including
shipping, fishing and exploitation of oil and gas. The main
tasks of the Directorate are the management of water and soil, management
and maintenance of the infrastructure at sea, in particular deep
water routes and port entrances, and the collection of data and
information with regard to the North Sea.
NORWEGIAN
PETROLEUM DIRECTORATE
The NPD exercises supervisory control of petroleum
activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and on Spitsbergen.
If functions as advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy
and to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development,
and is responsible for providing all participants in the petroleum
industry, as well as the general public, with guidance and information
to achieve a safe conduct of the petroleum activities while having
due consideration for the environment.
UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE OF TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT
(UNCTAD)
UNCTAD
is focal point within the United Nations for the integrated treatment
of development and interrelated issues in the areas of trade, finance,
technology, investment and sustainable development. Within
the latter area, UNCTAD's activities include the development of

WILDLIFE FUND (WWF)
WWF is the major international non -governmental
organization concerned with conservation of nature. WWF's ultimate
goal is to stop, and then reverse, the accelerating degradation
of our planet's natural environment and to help build a future in
which humans live in harmony with nature.
